The Baden Wine Road (southern part)

Starting point in the Markgraeflerland area is the spa town of Bad Bellingen.
Via Kandern to the baroque Schloss Buergeln castle near Schliengen. Continue via Muellheim to Sulzburg, (1000 year old church of St. Cyriac.) Visit in Staufen, of Faust fame, (historical old-town and castle ruins).

Continue via Ehrenkirchen to the university town of Freiburg.
Take a westerly route to the Kaiserstuhl area, where Ihringen is the warmest spot in Germany. Breisach on the Rhine with it's historical old-town, is also known as the home of the cellars of Europe's largest wine producer, the Badische Winzerkeller, and two famous Sekt cellars where Germany's own sparkling wine "Sekt" is made. A small detour to some of the outlying villages in the Vogtsburg im Kaiserstuhl area is well worth taking, particularly to historical Burkheim, along with Oberrotweil, Oberbergen, Achkarren or Bickensohl, before continuing via Endingen and Riegel into the Ortenau area. (to Offenburg, Oberkirch, Kappelrodeck, Sasbachwalden into the vineyards of Baden-Baden).

Distance: ca. 135 km
