The “Westweg” from Pforzheim to Basel

Hiking without baggage on the “Westweg” from 335 Euros

The “Westweg” goes from Pforzheim to Basel. From the Nagold-Enztal valley it rises gently up to Dobel on the highs of the northern Black Forest. Continuing across the woods you will arrive at Hohloh. Following cliffs with a breathtaking view over the Murgtal the path leads downwards to Forbach.

You´ll find the highest mountain peaks and wild, romantic gorges in the Black Forest. The highest mountain is the Feldberg at 1.493 m. The Wutach gorge near Bonndorf must rate as one of the most beautiful gorges.

rivers in the Black Forest

Many famous romantic rivers flow through the Black Forest. The source of the Danube, one of the longest European rivers, is to be found in Donaueschingen. And there are also lots of little streams which are an intrinsic feature of the Black Forest landscape.

Lakes in the Black Forest

Numerous lakes charakterize the landscape of the Black Forest. Lake Titisee, Schluchsee or the legendary Mummelsee are indeed the most well known, but there are also many small lakes dotted around inviting you to bathe or splash about in summer.

WUTACH GORGE

The river Wutach and its tributaries form an overwhelming primal landscape with romantic canyons and original forests. It is an unforgettable experience for every hiker.

Rangers in the Black Forest – more than just conservationists

Feldberg, the Wutach gorge and Schliffkopf are just some of the unique nature protection areas in the Black Forest, where rangers keep the balance between the needs of visitors and the needs of plants and animals for protection. The Wutach gorge is one of the favourite hiking routes in the Black Forest, mainly from spring to autumn.

The countryside of the Southern Black Forest nature park offers hikers almost unlimited variety:
There are magnificent views from the mountains over valleys and ravines, scattered orchards and sun-drenched vineyards, wildly romantic rock formations, roaring waterfalls, clear lakes and streams. And on the wayside, you can marvel at the multitude of animal and plant species, many of them rare.
