With its extensive mountainous and forested terrain set in a classic Black Forest landscape, the municipality offers walkers a large network of hiking paths. The Teichschlucht gorge is a picturesque natural attraction and an insider’s tip for hikers. The Balzer Herrgott is also a very special feat of nature: a figure of Christ almost fully encased in a beech tree. This well-known place of pilgrimage is enshrouded in countless myths and legends.
Clocks played a large role in the industrial development of Gütenbach – which is why the village can be found on the German Clock Route. Visitors can find out all about it at the impressive Clock and Village Museum (Uhren- und Dorfmuseum). Gütenbach still has a clock factory today, owned by the company Hanhart. The history of the company and a large array of exhibits and collectors’ items can be seen in its exhibition rooms.
