Hiking in winter

Snowshoeing is the most traditional way of locomotion in the winter landscape of the Black Forest and a welcome change for the whole family.

While wooden frames stringed with hides and sinews had to suffice the trappers in North America in earlier times, today’s snowshoes are made from modern materials and also have flexible bindings. Once you’re fixed to the snowshoes, off you go!

The nature protection centres at the Ruhestein Pass and Feldberg Mountain offer guided snowshoeing as well. Duration: 2-3 hours. Rental equipment: snowshoes and telescopic sticks. Dates and prices on enquiry.
